Most of the people in my life know that I’m a Narnia freak. It goes to say that I was/am particularly excited about the series being made into movies. But I was especially excited about The Voyage of Dawn Treader because I thought it was very filmable.
But seeing the trailer makes me want to cry and strangle someone at the same time. I am very afraid of how the VDT movie will turn out. I am no purist - I get that things will get lost in the transition from book to film but this is so wrong.
This is supposed to be a journey story — like the Odyssey. But the writers/producers/director seem to have decided that isn’t compelling enough so they added the whole Narnia-is-in-danger plotline to spice things up. Obviously, this means they don’t trust the original material.
Also, can we freaking get rid of the White Witch already?! I love Tilda Swinton but we all know she just got dragged into this because the movie’s powers that be wanted to have a villain. And what’s up with radioactive shining shimmering Ramandu’s daughter?
I am so scared for this movie.
